Dear NTMA Members and National Associates,
As we all cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to share with you the work that NTMA has done and our plans to help our members through this challenging time. This crisis is changing our businesses and our lives, and your association wants to be as helpful as possible.
In the interest of health and safety, we are allowing NTMA’s staff to work from home for the immediate future. While some employees are working remotely, we are available to you and are fully operational. All of us are available via email or by phone.
I have been working with NTMA’s One Voice advocacy team in Washington, D.C., the Franklin Partnership and Bracewell, on a daily basis to convey the concerns of our members and to obtain updates on the government’s plans to address the economic and financial challenges that we are all experiencing a s a result of the crisis caused by COVID-19.
I have received many inquiries from members about where they can obtain information. I’m pleased to report that NTMA’s One Voice team has created a website, www.onevoiceinfo.org, where NTMA members can obtain the trustworthy, practical information you need right now to operate your businesses. The current website topic areas include: Safe Workplace Guidelines, Workforce Resources; Human Resource Compliance Tools; Loan and Tax Information; Federal, State and Local Government Ordinances and Information. The site is being updated constantly as new information becomes available.
As important, we are ensuring that Washington policymakers understand the immediate challenges and needs of our members. The One Voice team is conveying our members’ priorities to Congress and the White House so that these priorities are reflected in proposed stimulus and assistance legislation. On March 17, we sent out a survey to NTMA members to help guide these advocacy efforts. We received more than 100 responses in 24 hours and the results made it clear that the advocacy team should prioritize actions that focus on cash flow concerns and the need for accounts receivable risk mitigation. The One Voice team is using the survey results to provide recommendations to Congress.
We will provide you information to help you through this crisis using a variety of communications platforms.
Next week, we will organize a webinar with the One Voice team in Washington so that you hear first-hand about what Congress and the White House are planning to assist manufacturers and other businesses, and what our advocacy team is doing to make certain our voices are heard. We will send out a notice soon on the date and time for the webinar and how to register.
You can also hear more about news from Washington and ongoing advocacy work in the latest episode of the Talking with One Voice podcast, available now on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, and other streaming services. Our team has recorded a special podcast on the COVID-19 crisis.
NTMA has canceled or postponed several meetings and events and is working to transition others to webinars. Please visit our website www.ntma.org for additional information.
Please feel free to contact me or any NTMA staff member if we can assist you in any way.
Thank you for your support of NTMA. By working together, we will get through these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Roger Atkins
President
